Living in a Bizarre Family

At the end of an Eagle Scout Court of Honor I was talking with a couple young men who told me that my family was "bizarre." When I pressed them to determine where the "bizarreness" came from they hesitantly indicated that I was the fountain from which said strangeness flowed. I did not refute the accusation.

In our family we revel in how strange we are. I frequently tell my daughter, a freshman in high school, that she is weird. She just smiles and says, "I know" as if awarded a high honor. I think the there are several reasons we are deemed bizarre but I believe chief among them is our penchant for reusing phrases. We quote movies, previous conversations, church talks, tv shows, and many other odd sayings we have used. With four children in the family and a sizable movie collection, our treasure trove of sayings is vast. Unfortunately, if you have not been in the family your entire life this running string of odd comments would, in deed, make us seem bizarre.

Not to mention that I do have fairly regular occurring fits of randomness.
